NooshTube Attends Nowruz Luncheon at the White House

Nowruz Luncheon at the White HouseThe Nowruz celebration at the White House was an initiative started by President Obama in 2014. Every year, the White House invites organizations and individuals who foster a better understanding between the United States and the Iranian and Central Asian Diasporas.

Nowruz, meaning the new day, welcomes the spring equinox as well as a new year for its 300 million celebrants, encompassing dozens of languages and cultures.

NooshTube was invited to this year’s Nowruz luncheon at the White House and our team was able to share in the day’s excitement of celebrating a cherished holiday with other fellow community leaders and food enthusiasts. Of particular interest was the White House’s beautiful Haft-seen display, which truly captured the essence of Nowruz.

First Lady Michelle Obama welcomed the attendees to the White House in her speech by emphasizing that Nowruz was a time of community and family. The First Lady went on to highlight that the dishes served at the Nowruz luncheon were prepared from traditional family recipes provided by White House Staffers.

NooshTube would like to thank and commend the White House and the US Department of State for hosting Americans of various cultural backgrounds to celebrate the age-old traditions of Nowruz.

On behalf of everyone here at NooshTube, we wish you and your families a bright and delicious Nowruz!
